Wake up World! G-FUNK IS BACK!!! Yes, G-Funk, has reunited with an updated itinerary, song list and stage show. This incredibly popular funk cover band from the late 1990’s has done it all --from festivals, parties and clubs, to its co-ownership in Lexington’s popular Boogie Nites nightclub, to sponsorship by The Miller Brewing Company. What cover band can say they have done all of this? The new band brings you deep, deep groove! “We have updated our song list and are now covering more modern groove songs from hip/hop artists to straight up funk artists. You won’t be hearing the old, boring covers that EVERYONE else is doing in this genre. You’ll hear a lot of songs that you groove to on the radio” says drummer Chad Gravitt. “Yeah, we figured why go to a dance club and listen to a DJ spin records when you can come and see a kick ass band perform them live. No one else is doing this as far as we know,” singer St. Jerrod Figgs adds.
Back from the original lineup are lead vocalists St. Jerrod Figgs and Christi Neilson, guitarist Wendell Rodgers and drummer Chad Gravitt. The new funkateers are bassist Mike Roberts who has performed with Amazing Grace, (guitar God) Ben Lacy and Anika Minor. “Mike is truly the most amazing bass player that G-Funk has ever had,” says Wendell. On Keyboards there is Jeff (Cons) Conley. Jeff has performed with Chaos Waiting and Channel Z-row.” He is the keyboard player that all synth oriented bands dream about having”, says Chad. G-Funk is currently auditioning auxiliary musicians and horn players to replace the members departing April 2003. There is no denying the fact that this new lineup of musicians and songs will again reign supreme as the regions most popular cover band. Imagine G-Funk with its original twist on the songs that everyone dies to hear live but never gets the chance!
